Knock sensor question

I was wondering if there is any need to get an OEM sensor for a civic compared to aftermarket? I really don't see the harm at all in using a third party part just for this alone.

If third part is ok then where would be a good place to get one online?

An aftermarket will work but they tend to break pretty easily. I recommend getting a Genuine Honda one if you can, even if it is used

what colour knock sensor do i need for a 1998 civic with a b16 heand and b18c4 bottom end

Either a Civic one (blue), Integra one (black), or a Prelude one (grey). They all work the same and are all one wire, the only differences are in the shape of the plug that the sensor takes.
