loud knocking when i reverse

Heres the deal, i put in a new motor about 4 months ago and now whenever i put the car in reverse and hit the breaks i hear a big knock come from the front end of the car. Anyone with any ideas? Could it be that an axle isn't seated all the way or something?

i had that problem, and it turns out 1 of my tierods is fucked.

is it just one big knock, if so maybe you don't have something bolted down and id just shifts enough when you hit the brakes to make a loud knock.
