lower ball joint

I can NOT get the lower ball joint loose from the control arm. I've pried and hammered, and shocked, and pickleforked, i've done everything for hours. This is absolutely ridiculous. Is this a common problem? Is there anything I can do?

Get a ball joint separator. Like $15 at auto zone. Its kinda horse-shoe shaped and has a screw that fits the divit in the bottom of the ball joint bolt. Its amazing how efficient that tool is.

Or rent a good one.

P.S. Don't forget to replace that rubber boot you raped with the pickle fork.

can i replace just the boot??? I thought I'd have to replace the whole ball joint.

That depends. If only the boot is trash, replace the boot, if the ball joint is loose (shows any play whatsoever) then you have to replace the whole thing.

ball joint was tight before.

I didn't know you could just replace the boot.

i know, but you can take it to a shop like i did before i had a compressor and pay like 10-20$ to have the do it...just trying to help the kid out..

I have air, I just don't have a pickle fork adapter for the air hammer.

I wish I woulda seen that video too, ha ha.
