LS/Vtec or not?

Well all of you im sure have read about my turbo build I want to do. But money is tight right now and unless i win it big at the casino it will take me a little longer than expected to do it. So for this winter I was pondering going ls/vtec. Would it be worth the money and then just do some other minor upgrades. Or should I just start saving everythign for the build?

i'd do the head work over the winter... get all those quirks worked out... then think about the boost in the spring
