ls vtec questions/ problems

    Ok so I am new to this but have a few questions, I have a 96 teg with a B16 head on the stock ls block that came in the car. All and all it runs nice but I am having issues. Low end is awesome first stage a vtec kicks right at 5k pulls for a sec then its like it hits a dead spor for 1k rpm then it starts to mash?? I changed my plugs wires cap rotor oil timing belt and all that so WTF is going on? My fuel presure reg was messed up to I changed that and it does run better. Oh I have a head that runs straight into a 3" exhaust back to two mufflers, Should I go have it changed to like a 2.5? thanks

    Honestly I'd take the exhaust all the way down to 2.25". There's just no reason to be running a 3" exhaust on an essentially stock N/A 1.8 liter engine...
