Assumingly the EG is already equipped with an OBD1 to 2 ECU jumper. Although since the GSR motor is already OBD1 you wont need it.
Of course you can convert, but your better off finding a hydro. They can be a little pricey but there are a ton of them out there. You will need a OBD1 p72 ECU or equiv, and add your vtec wires assuming the EG is not an EX. If you can afford it, I would suggest chipping a p28. A fairly simple swap otherwise. GoodLuck
