Rotary Man
Ok so as anyone can tell by my avatar, I have a 1991 Rx7. Anyways here is my electrical nightmare. On August 23rd I went to drop someone off and after 5 min went to start my car again..nothing. It would crank over but thats it. Anyways called a friend and after 45 min of waiting I tried to start it again. It fired right up so I thought to myself "Self that was weird" So I decided to drive it home and on the way it died and wouldn't start again. So long story short I had it towed to a mechanic I know really well. I thought it might be a fuel issue but turns out there is no spark. So he reccomends that I take it to this guy who apparently is really good and has 30 yrs of experience with imports. So after some bad luck and a looong waiting time for parts, I stil don't have my car back (as of Nov. 6):(. He has checked everything possible and swapped any major components over (ecu, cas, etc.) ALL my grounds are good, you name it he's checked it oh and my main relay was blown so I had that replaced. I am about to give up on life right now... I miss my car so much lol (It's a sickness). Anyways sorry about the long rant I just had to vent.^_^

No :(....I must be missing a wire somewhere or something is dragging down my reference voltage...but thanks for the suggestion..

I dont think Rx7's have a dizzy... in fact the spark plugs bolt to the side of the block and a small area. stupid rotory's I have a buddy up in michigan who's going through an entire rebuild of rotory as of now.

Yah its called a distributorless system they have a CAS and multiple coils but it's an alright system. It's when people redline rotary's all day and do performance mods with not knowing how they work. They can be the best thing ever or a thorn in your side. People just don't know how to take care of them thats all. They have a bad rep:(

So I guess you redline yours all the time?

why's it not working?

i used to have a FC, most shops wouldn't even know what to do w/ a flooded one. u gotta find a specialist or rotary competent mechanic.

I have access to a program called "all-data" its basically a book to any car you want. but. online. I've noticed you have a crankshaft position sensor. You may want to see on replacing that. unless your mechanic already checked it out. I dont have much experience with rotory's but if your haveing a spark issue, coils are good, wires, plugs, etc. either your cranshaft sensor isnt reading anymore, or you have a shorted wire in your harness. this is just my thoughts with out seeing the car.

You blew a main fuse. You can't just replace it and go.

Something blew that main fuse.

Just because the coils won't fire, doesn't mean there is an issue with the coils. There are signals to those coils telling them to fire.

It may be getting fuel, but I would check the injectors and have them bench flowed. It's not hard to remove them and it's a few dollars for a good machine shop to bench them.

Give me that fucking car.

In mine the cas went, and that was an issue. You do know about the wankel flooding thing, right ?

Oh yah I know about the flooding thing and I checked all my fuses but something made that main relay blow right? Thats what I don't get...I have checked my ecu, for shorts, grounds, cas, coil, power to coil, etc. I have checked everything I know of:(

I have a lil experience with rotary engines, try pulling the connector to the ignition, checking the pins. The other is while you have the plug out, try inserting it back in and out(without completely locking it back in, just so it makes some connection), and cranking it at the same time. When I worked a Mazda we called it the teasing procedure, for some reason doing this got the computer to send a signal to the coil packs to fire. It's like the computer has to relearn to send a signal to the coils. But before you do this, have you had the injectors checked, they tend to leak down after a while and flood the engine. If this is the case let me know there's another procedure that you can do to start the car until you get the injectors replaced.
