I discovered a hicup in my block conversion. I am using a d16a6 block to replace a blown d16z6 block. Once bolting the motor mount brackets on I discovered a difference in the bosses on the blocks. Does anyone have a d16a6 front upper motor mount bracket, the part that bolts to the block?

    Thank you much, Angus

Not sure either? I was told the block swap was more or less direct. What vehicle did they come from, maybe I can cross reference with the dealer.

    Thanks

Just checked with the dealer. The z6 and a6 mount are different. They are shooting in the dark since I do not know the exact car my a6 came out of.

Will those blocks be similar? Im no expert so I was surprised the difference in the d16a6 and d16z6. I know most people doing a mini-me start with the a6 and dont run into this like me.

    Thanks

Thats what I ran into. I did not notice a difference untill bolting it up. The z6 bracket wasn't even close to parallel to the deck surface. The rubber would be way off.

OK, I'm not smart enough for pictures so discriptions will have to do. The mount bracket I need has the block mounting bolts that are inline verticaly with the block same as the cylinder bores. My z6 mount, which will not work, has the bolt holes at a slight angle. Apparently the z6 block uses a slightly bigger water pump so the bolt holes are tilt a few degrees. Keep in mind I am describing the holes that bolt to the block not the horizontal rubber mount surface. The result is a badly tilted z6 bracket on an a6 block. Clear as mud huh.

Thanks for the help, your brackets just might work.

I cant compare mounts, but the water pumps are the same. The z6 block is different in the water jacket area and I think thats why the motor mount bosses were drilled at an angle. I think you have what I need! What do you need for one, shipping to KC 66202? Thanks much!
