Hi I just got a 1988 Honda Civic DX Hatchback from my parents because they got a 2007 Honda Fit. It has 300,000 miles on its original engine, which is a D15B2 with a 4-speed automatic transmission. I was wondering which engine would be the best for me to swap out with. I've thought about a B16 but thats currently a little out of my price range. But I have access to almost any Honda part imaginable because 20-30 minutes away from my house is "Honda Heaven" which is a Honda and Acura only junk yard with 1000's of Hondas and Acuras. I was there yesterday and they advised I get a D16Y7 for around $450. What do you think?

I would suggest starting with a D series swap if its your first swap.
REASONING:
1. bolts right in using the stock mounts.
2. bolts right up to your tranny (but would recommend a 5 speed, not neccesary but recommended)
3. All you have to worry about is wiring depending on the motor you choose.

D16Z6- P28 ECU and wiring harness's.........etc....

So is it smart to get a D16Y7? Or should I get a different engine?
