I bought a used ecu for my 2002 civic all the numders match....what i need to know is whether i need to program it somehow, because when i installed it the car would turn over but would not start. So i need to know whether it is a faulty computer or a security programing issue? do i have to take it to honda and have the keys reprogrammed to the new ecu?
 
Check the ECU fuse. I know those cars run in a Closed Loop except when at WOT, and the computer has a learn proccess. Its tough to even put a vafc on those engines, because in 1-2 weeks, the ecu resets itself back to its original settings. If all else fails, contact the dealership and ask one of their tech's for some advice. Good luck.
