need more hp/torque...'89 lx sedan

Wife's complaining,her Mom's '89 lx automatic is gutless going up highway4.
How complicated would a d16 sohc swap be?-while keeping the auto. tranny.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank You.:)

D16A6 is a good start, and is pretty easy. You would have to do the DPFI (Dual Point Fuel Injection) to MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection) swap. Otherwise, it's a direct swap. I believe you can even get a conversion harness if you didnt' want to rewire it yourself. A resistor box and some injectors would wrap up most of what you need.
