You're missing on the magic...We loaded up a kodi box with a few dozen movies and shows. We hardly ever turn it on in favor of Netflix :/

raspberry pi + raspbmc OS w/Kodi + Genesis and Phoenix Add ons = HD streaming bliss for $35... Setup can be a little involved if you're not familiar, but once it is all installed and configured your wife can easily use it. Mine loves ours.
The xbmc iphone apps as remote controls are pretty nice too.
