no 5th gear or reverse?!?!?!?

ok so i get my shift cable on today and only to find out that the car wont go into 5th or reverse. anybody ever had this problem before after doing a B18b swap into a crx with a first gen b16 tranny? somebody please let me know asap. the only thing i could think of is that im not sure i have the shifter put in the right way...i mean im not sure if the shifter is in backwards or not. anwyays please help me out. thnx -mike

I'm guessing it has to do with the 5/R shift rail detents/ interlock pins.

that happened when i bent a shift fork in my tranny.

you may want to check your shift linkage. Mine (adjustable, but ghetto welded because the thread is bad) came loose and i was having the same symptoms. good luck fixing it.

where shift linkage enters the transmission could be bent. that happened to mine(dont know how) only had 3rd and 5th gears.
