How important is power steering in a racecar?
Track car not a drag car. Any thoughts?

It seems to be heavy and a pulley on the main system. Maybe a horsepower or two drain.

Thanks

I think that comes down to driver preference. Personally I don't want it, I prefer the feel I get without it.

i love the feel of non power steering, but for track driving its better to have the close ratio that the power steering rack has. so what you do is loop your power steering hose to keep fluid in the rack, but remove everything else, you get the close ratio and the feel of non power steering.

Can you explain the loop?
Does the fluid need to be cooled?

I don't know much about this topic and most race cars don't have the power steering pumps connected. Please explain the best solution and should you change the fluid often?

Thanks
