put H22A into 92 prelude si. Cleaned egr but check engine light still comes on as soon as you turn on car. idles ruff and bad gas mileage. any suggestions?
had to get a new on for my prelude when i did that swap. To test it:
connect hand vaccuum pump to egr valve directly. They are usually rated for 5-8 in-Hg (or 2.5-4psi). Once the pump reaches 5-6 inches stop pumping, and let it sit there, it should retain it's pressure, if it doesn't you have a bad diaphragm and need a new valve.
the second test takes two people. this time, start the car and hold the RPMs around 2k. For every inch of mercury, you should lose about a hundred RPMs off the tach.
If you don't keep pressure on the first test, or you maintain RPMs on the second, then you'll probably need to replace the valve. It's about 60 bucks and you can order it from these guys (which is where i get all my OEM parts):
