I thought the same thing. I actually think Mater had a little more shine on him though, despite his animated nature

    a 440 with a cam doesn't make 600 hp, let alone 1500.

I love Rat rods, but I don't understand the purpose of putting all the effort into choping, channeling and fabricating an entire chassis and then hacking the frontend, and not even painting it?

    I don't get it.

listen eg rat rods are a part of auto history its what you used to do and if you were goin to paint it it would only be one color flat black not everyone wanted the car to pop or have flash just to be one of a kind and another reason is money you didnt always have money for new parts thats why you had a combination of parts

"Rat Rod" is a ratty looking hotrod. It was purpose built for either beach racing, bonneville salt flats or just to own. It's roughness and "unfinished" look is what seperates a rat rod from a Hot Rod.

Rat Rods are crummy looking to remind us that they may be a 100 year old car under there, and it's worse for wear.

Still looks sweet even unfinished. I had a classic car restorer that I used to live next to. He always had three or more rods sitting in his driveway and one in the garage. As a kid I used to hang out there and watch him work on them. Kinda motivated me to do what I do today :)

yeah that tow truck is considered finished. the more appropriate term for a rat rod is "traditional hot rod"...

Looked at the build more, Not liking a few items, but the $15k selling price was appropriate.

The rear suspension.. Well, it's welded. So yeah. And the engine is ok, but a flathead or something more vintage would be nice.

    And Suicide doors. Definately.
