Basically they are trying to make guiding through the pain in the ass I JUST WANNA TALK TO A FUCKIN OPERATOR automation systems easier to use.

IVRs are basically Voicemail set up for automated attending.

You hear a greeting followed by instructions (if you want to speak to Dave, press one. If you want to speak to Mary, press 2. etc...)

The problem with people nowadays is we're all fucking lazy ass cows who don't want to be patient. It makes it harder when we can't comprehend certain, sometimes obvious instructions.
