Replacement O2 sensor looks a bit different

I am replacing the O2 sensor for the first time in my 1995 Honda Civic 1.6EX. The replacement sensor differs from the original in two ways.
First the length of the wire from clip fitting to connector is 2 inches longer and second the "nose" only has holes on the tip rather than along the whole length of the original "nose".

Is this a better redesign or shall I look for an exact replacement.
