I have a Head from a GSR and the exhaust cam overheated, or ran dry on oil, and scored it pretty good, it made marks on 3 of the journals and on 3 of the cam caps. Is there a way to have a machine shop fix it,? or is it non-repairable?
If the journals are scored then I wouldn't bother. Only way to fix that would be to cut it down; which means it'll no longer fit the caps, or weld and regrind; which is expensive. If the surface on the head is still good, just replace the cam caps; get it line-honed, and just swap in a good cam. The cam surface("bottom" of the cap) is actually easier to fix than the cam.
