Simple ECU question

This ? applies to any ECU but mine is a P72(s300). All I want to know is if I hook nothing up but the 2 power wires and the 4 ground wires can I power up the ECU to plug up the s300 to my laptop. any help is greatly appreciated.

Why don't you just plug it into your car and use the cable that came with the Hondata system to plug it into your laptop while sitting in your car?
