speed sensor

anyone here ever had a problem with theirs? when im going down the road it goes back and forth from 0 to whatever speed im doing and after 5 minutes it quits on me. i dont wanna change it if thats not it cuz its like 90 bucks

too bad that sounds like typical failure of the speed sensor. it's also possible the tach is malfunctioning, but that's much more rare. otherwise, there's not much else to that circuit. just power, signal, and reference voltage. soo not much else that it could be. what car do you have exactly, with what engine/trans if swapped?
