I picked up a 91 civic wagon a little while back. It runs strong but has 216,000 on the clock.
A good friend of mine just gave me a b18a1 that needs to be rebuilt. It spun a rod bearing. I've already started tearing it down and just want to start find any extra info I'll need.
I think I wanna stay stock. The jump from 106hp to 140 should do me just fine. I'm not looking to race or anything of the sorts.
What are things to look out for that a manual will not point out (ie. hairline fractures in certain area, stuff of the sorts)?
The crank has some light damage on the rod journal it spun. Are these cranks safe to get turned down? I've read that using oem bearings is the best way to go. Are they even available in os sizing? Am I better off looking for a crank with no damage?
As far as ordering oem bearings/ gaskets... is there a good online source? My local dealership is a joke!
This is my first post. I'm sure I'll have many more to come. I'm really glad to find a forum that deals with rebuilding. Most other forums just seem to deal with swapping motors in with unknown historys.
Oh yeah. I do have experience building different types of motors, just new to honda.
