So, I'm a student at Universal Technical Institute in Orlando, Fl. To start this off, I kinda messed up and started attending on impulse basically. Bumming with a friend of mine who's been gracious enough to let me stay with him till I find a job and get on my feet. Well lately I've been feeling more of a burden on him. I'm fully financed for school right now, but living is other wise. My parents have bad credit and can not co-sign for me as well as finding someone to co-sign isn't a easy task for myself either. I'm still considered a dependent till the age 24 as well. I suck at locating loans, but I'm basically looking for a loan that can help me with living and getting things rolling again so I can stay on top and keep there. Anyone have any experience with this or know of a way or something?

Talk with your friend and work out paying part of the rent or whatever. Can you make enough money on a part-time job to pay rent, utilities, and whatever else?

Getting another big loan just to live on your own is a bad move. Think about it - you're attending a technical school "on impulse", building debt doing something you didn't think through. Your parents have bad credit? How did they get it? Probably doing things like you're talking about doing.

Think realistically before making any big decisions.

First off have you talked to the financial aid department. You can get a living expenses loan which will add to your school loans... i recommend this as your last option.

Best option = Get a job uti does there program so that you can get a job during your schooling. Yes you will have to suck it up stop bitching and probably work somewhere you dont want to. You may not make enough money to pay bills and do fun shit. O well again suck it up and pay your bills. There will be plenty of time for fun after school is over and you have a real job

School loans are one thing. Yes, it sucks paying them back over the years, but for a lot of people it's the only way to finance the opportunity for lots of higher-paying jobs that you wouldn't have otherwise.

Getting a loan just for spending money though? That's a bad idea. Unless you can find someone willing to give you a loan with a low interest rate (probably unlikely if you and/or your parents have bad credit and/or you have little to no credit history), then you might as well just be putting stuff on a credit card.

If you're pretty certain that you're going to land a job, then you could go somewhere and ask for a cash advance just for the time being, but that's not without risk of expense either.

I'd say just focus fully on finding a job. If UTI can help you, then accept their help. You can always look for a new job while making money at a shitty job...

I'm sorry, I miss worded this. I'm not looking into a loan to go out and blow it all away for a good night. I'm looking into a small loan to start me off into getting a place to live, car registered and going. right now I have a job at "WIS International." Their just not throwing any hours out. in the past 2 weeks I've worked a total of once, and that was only for 3 hours at 8 bucks an hour. I cant apply for a student loan to help with just living expenses because I had to declare myself independent and go with a "In House Loan" which means my tuition is the only thing covered and I'm stuck in the cold. Basically, I can go to school all the way through, but if I dont do something to improve my chances or ability to drive longer distances to work. Then I'm more than likely going to be homeless. I've already lived with my friend for over 3 months no rent or anything. I feel as if I'm already streching his patience thin and more than likely will end up getting kicked out. I will repeat this. I'm not looking for spending money. Just down on luck and trying to get everything straightened out. I did talk to financial aid, and they said theres nothing they can do for me. Tomorrow I'm going to try to talk to my employer and see if theres anything I can do to make more hours. If it does come down to the last resort of needing a loan or something, I'm not looking into much, no more than 2500. just enough to pay a couple months rent ahead of time, and improve transportation. the only way I've had to get to school lately was from a class mate, and the only way right now is looking into switch time schedules.

if you don;t want to get kicked out you should try helping your friend around the place
when he leaves to work clean the whole apt top to bottom
when my friend had to crash at my place for a month he would clean and vacuum and did a whole sink+ worth of dishes for me

i would have never kicked him out but he made himself into an asset by living there and doing work.

remember for an apt you generally need first and last months rent, plus a months rent for security deposit.

reckedracing is a wise man. most straight males are lazy and the last thing they want to do is clean. example, my two brothers live together and both have 2 full time jobs, so cleaning is on the bottom of their list. but my older brother does do it when it gets to a certain point, however my younger brother doesnt give a crap. so my older bro always females about my younger one not pitching in and cleaning. thus, its a big plus and wins huge favors for both male and female roommates when you clean.

and moving out on your own is almost always fail when you are broke. seen it many a times. usually only last for a couple months until bills stack too high.

so as others have pointed out, clean up the place youre staying at and get a second job ( thats probably easier said than done), but it seems thats the only option you have besides dropping out and going back home or being homeless.

    Just saw this...

According to the Finacial Aid department at my campus, you can pull any amount of your subsidized or unsubsidized loan that you need but then you need to pay it back directly to the school by the time you graduate but they may start asking you to make monthly payments directly to them right away rather than getting that 6 month grace period from the point you graduate.
