It's not a tsunami wave. I have that whole DVD. It's a spot a few miles off shore or something like that and because of the wind or some shit it generates huge waves. Sick video to watch. They pretty much invented a new form of surfing to be able to surf these waves. It involves foot straps and a waverunner tow into the wave. They need both because you just can't paddle out into surf like that.
