umm this is my first post so here goes ... i just bought a 92 honda civic dx with a d16z6 swap in it and this is supposed to have vtec but i cant hear it AT ALL it still sounds like a dx ... anyways ive isolated the vtec wires and i was just wondering if anything will happen to my car if i switch the wires>?

Other than throw a CEL for no vtec, no. Mine were switched when I bought my new car, I drove like that for a week before I got it all ironed out.

Check Engine Light, when the ECU doesn't see the right signals, it sends out a code in the form of a CEL to tell you what's wrong, or that something is wwrong.
