These collisions happen randomly on the planet and in the atmosphere all the time. The difference is that we're making them happen exactly where we want them to so we can study them.

It's such a common occurrence that if stable black holes were created from these types of collisions, we'd have no matter anywhere in the universe by now. If anything, two-particle micro black holes are created that emit a particle via Hawking radiation and evaporate almost instantly.

Hardly. We're much closer to fusion, but cold fusion is still for the most part a pipe dream. Things like the LHC will help though.

Watch? The movie was HORRIBLE. If you've read the book, you'd be nearly disgusted by the movie... they left so much out and hardly explained everything.

i did read the book, years ago. the movie was still a good watch.

this in itself is good reason to watch.
