think ill throw a code???

my water temp guage in my dash is broken, i dunno if the sender is, i doubt it. I got an autometer from a friend and i was wondering if i just pulled the stock sender out, and put the autometer in, would i get a code?? this way i dont re-use the stock one. just a thought.

An autometer water temp gauge? I doubt you would throw a code swapping gauges but swapping the coolant temp. sensor from a car other than yours is a little risky.

its not from another car, its a universal guage. the sending unit and all that crap was never used. im not really swapping gauges, im replacing the stock one with a seperate autometer unit and thinking of just takin out the stock sending unit and putting in the autometer one. herm, maybe ill just use the stock one...but the thing is, if i either splice into the wires or cut and only use the autometer ones, you think ill throw a code??
