its called a purge valve
it clears the lines of any condensation or stale N2O so you get a nice clean shot going into the engine
plus it looks cool as fuck and can be a little intimidating to the person you are racing

at a drag track in canada i go to quite often, sometimes there are snowmobiles that race there. yes in the summer, yes down the same track cars do. some have nitrous and run 9 second 1/4 miles. its fucking nuts, they are sliding all over the place until about half way down the track. CRAZY CANADIANS!!!
