Transmission rebuild

Hey all,

When i get my rpms above 6K, my car grinds when i shift from 2nd to 3rd (i can still shift w/out forcing it, but the grinding scares me) - i think it is the syncros.

How much does it cost to fix this problem and am i right in assuming it is the syncros?

yes synchros.
what fluid are you using in there? i hear the synchro mesh by GM helps (its a tranny fluid)

Depends on the shop you use for the rebuild, and if you just replace the syncros instead.

Call up a tranny shop and ask. I know it won't be cheap beause 75% of the cost will be labor, and it's a pain in the fucking ass to pull a FWD tranny out.


I was going to do this on my Escort because 2nd gear was hard as fuck to pull into... but I never got around to it. So I don't know.

do it yourself. fuck shops that want 1200 to fix it. i did it myself. i will make a write up when i have time.

i think for the meantime, im just gonna double clutch on my way into 3rd under heavy driving.
