Well, like the title says, the old car finally loses the original engine. My buddy has had this car as long as I've known him, and he got it from his parents.

The first transmission gave up at 301,000. That was an automatic. Replaced with a used auto.

The engine finally gave today, with at least 369K, and it was probably more(haven't looked for a couple weeks). The engine was never tinkered on except for a few timing belt changes, and a couple valve adjustments. The rest was just being well taken care of.

Keep in mind, my buddy ALWAYS drove this car pretty hard, but still treated it well.

This is my tribute to an old friend, which took us to more nights out at the bar than I can remember.

How many miles on your ride? I'd like to hear some high mileage tributes. :)

1992 Ford Escort GT=96k ORIGINAL miles. never tripped. pretty damn good for a 12 year old car if you ask me and she runs EXCELLENT!! :)

Ok, that 96K is probably equal to the 370K this guy had, it is a ford after all, those early 90's had the worst reliability problems...

210,000 miles on my 86 Accord LX-i. Still runs smooth and clean. Doesn't matter if it's 15 below freezing outside, she'll always start on the first try and warm right up. Original transmission, second clutch. I've done some mods and wound the engine all the way out on occasion. Never misses a beat.

my 1987 CRX Si : 280k
my Firebird Formula: 250k

Cars of the past:

1979 Celica GT : 375,000 original miles
1982 Supra : 310,000

Those are some of the highest mileage ones.

-> Steve

but the CRX motor may be toast, so that's my last attempt at mega-miles. And the Formula only goes 5 digits.

My old integra had 238k on the motor and tranny, and the tranny gave when I got rid of it.

My buddy has a Jeep CJ-7 with 3XXk. They still braff it on the weekends.

my Accord hit about 216,000 on the first engine, then I H22'd that bitch. Former owner was a female of the non-maintenance persuasion. The tranny still has life though. ;)

i think redsigal is approaching 270k miles on her 94 si. :D

She's passed that mark! She's at 276K now and still owning the highways. I love this engine! :)

1987 Mustang GT. 175k miles and BONE STOCK it went 14.5 or better all day every day, and it was bracket raced every weekend for 2 years.

It only broke because my friend decided to rev it to 6500, 1000 over redline, and the harmonic balancer decided to go south in the same motion.

Poor Poor Crankshaft. It snapped the nose right off the crank. :(
