and the European Union has made it clear that it considers online gambling a product that should be allowed to be freely traded.
The bill makes it illegal for any business that operates in the US to handle money related to online gambling. So if a foreign company is caught putting poker money into a US-based account, they can no longer operate in the US. For their own safety, all the big poker sites are soon disallowing US IPs from participating in money games. The only way I can figure to do it now is to set up a bank account somewhere out of the country, and use a foreign proxy to connect to the poker sites.I'm moving to whatever country is involved with this part. Fuckin senators, oh well I only do play money on pokerstars.com anyway, I can't get shit for hands at all, I'm not putting money up.
Edit: I'm not sure how the Federal government can completely stop this anyway, not everyone starts throwing their Debit card account numbers to the boards. A lot of them play with their credit cards, and I bet some use paypal. If paypal is a US based company, the feds might be able to do something about it. But there is no way in hell an outside of the US gambling site will ever be restricted to US gamblers.
Chaulk another useless bill up to people who get paid too much to take away civil liberties.
Them fuckin terrorists are winning little by little.

And it's all our fault for voting in the people who are letting them win.
No online gambling money can change hands at all to or from anyone in the US. US companies (Credit card companies and transaction sites like Paypal and Neteller were mentioned specifically) are barred from moving any and all online gambling money. My brother practically makes (made) a living playing online poker, so he knows the specifics much better than I do... From what I can gather though, the bill is open ended enough and meant to entirely stop online gambling in the US. There is no way for you (as a gambling site) to legally get any money in or out of the hands of anyone in the US. If a foreign company tries it they are then barred from doing any buisiness with anyone in the US at all. What if they pay by VISA, MasterCard or Paypal, can US online gamblers pay other countries poker sites?
If I were to start up a poker site outside the US, does anyone know what steps I need to take? You mentioned something about the business putting money in a US-based account. Do you need to put money in the bank to start up a poker site?
Why are they so worried about it?
