vtec difference

I just got back from a OIF deployment , and my 99 civic si have been sitting in a storage for 7 months. i did a full tune up on it when i got back in dec 06. i put a GSR distributor on it because i fucked up my other one and no shop had one for a b16a. now it seems like the vtec change over got more quiet than before. before the vtec used to scream even not a full throttle, now the change over sounds like it blends you know what im saying? its not instant, it like slowly goes into vtec. does anybody have a clue on what it may be?? i ran out of ideas. thanx

vtec isn't suppose to be loud. normally the engagement is loud if you have i/h/e.

i got the AEM V2 intake on mine and a couple other aftermarket parts, and when the vtec engages its loud as fuck..i scared one of my friends sitting in the passanger seat when i hit vtec. he never been in a car with vtec before, he though something fuked up under then hood haha.
