if i was to buy a 2005 1.8t golf, how hard/expensive would it be to swap in the r32 drivetrain to make it awd?

im thinking it should be fairly easy, just wondering if anyone had any idea.

haha. 16k to make it awd. Just buy an audi a4 quattro. Better drivetrain than the 4motion system.

damn 16k, i figured it would be an easy swap :wall:

With this completed, they set in to the 80 hour task of drilling out the factory spot welds to extract the rear frame rails and floor assembly

80 hours... holy shit... thats gotta be a boring week

This guy from around my way made a 99 gst eclipse convertable into a gsx convertable. Did all the work in his driveway. I think he said a little under 7k. Still alot of money. Good luck :)

good god that 4 motion conversion is crazy ness

sheer insanity...

removing the wholre rear frame assembly and installing another rear frame...
wouldn't it be easier to just do a tube chassis in the rear?

i guess that would take some innovation and such...
easier to cut and paste as far as the engineering perspective is concerned...

Convertables suck anyway. They have more chasis flex than hard tops, and look like shit to boot! Oh well, he's the one that wasted the money not me.
