If properly done, a welded diff is a good mod for somebody who used their car for either drag racing or drifting, and does not daily drive it.

A properly welded diff will be rock solid.

how many people out there know how to weld hardened steel though... and do it properly? not too many.

It would only be useful in a straigh line drag race at a track, I would think cornering would put alot of strain on your drive train.

They're welding the diff so that even if one cv axle fails, the other side will still get power so that they can maneuver.
Why you would enter a FWD car in a destruction derby, I'll never know.
