Comcast 250GB Cap Goes Live October 1 - Updated: Comcast confirms our story... - dslreports.com

What gets me is they call you if you go over, if you go over twice in a year they cancel you.

If you want to see how much you're using, you should "google" for a program that tracks it, why the hell do they not give you one as part of their service?

99% of their customers do not go over the limit, however 1% is enough for them to make a major issue of it? something seems weird.

I wonder how much I use? Joe anyway to look it up?

Does anyone know how much bandwidth playing online games like gears or call of duty takes? There's some die hard video game freaks that are gonna flip out.
Guess I might look into verizon fios, I know I can get it here.

Playing video games doesn't use as much bandwidth as downloading stuff. As long as you're not downloading a ton of porn or movies you'll be fine.

Not that I agree with the cap. From what I've heard the cap has always been there it just wasn't official though.

You won't be affected by it. It will effect maybe 0.1% of Comcasts users as stated in the article.

Careful though with FiOS. It was a great deal at 15down/2up @ 50.00 a month, but they recently jumped it to 57.99 a month, where as Comcast has dropped prices to 20-40 a month, with the 12down/2up package being 35.00.

I'm considering jumping over to Comcast and buying my own modem for them to hook it up to.

I've been nowhere near my limit playing COD4 online constantly.

I can get the internal answer to this tomorrow when I go to work :) I knew about this for almost 2 months... through the grape vine.

I don't have any links to customer service, but I can ask the IP support department to confirm if I can track it.

I was worried when I heard of the limit announcement but before I heard it was 250GB; that's plenty. To hit the limit, that's over 8GB a day, every day, for 31 days. You've really got to be a hard core torrent seeder to break that.

250gb is more than enough. it's a serious amount of bandwidth.

Hondaswap serves 160-170gb a month lately.

You can easily browse the net as always, and download 10 cd's a day and not have any issues.

Capping bandwidth is not a huge deal for me. But the throttling practices that Comcast had in place for awhile really pisses me off. They really need to get Net Neutrality legislation going.
