they say that the zc swap is drop in for 88-91 civic/crx's but im not sure if it is for the dx models. is it a direct drop in or do i need some additional wiring or parts

you need to do an MPFI swap... after the MPFI swap the ZC is a direct drop in...
read these too...

probably for any obd0 ecu. i cant imagine why injector or dist. pin locations would be different.

so basically if i have a 88-91 dx and want to do a zc swap. im going to need to do a mpfi swap first. which ecu do i use. do i use the zc ecu or do i need another one? i dont need any mounts or brackets or make any frame adjustments like when you do a b series swap?

ohhh another thing would i use the zc tranny or the dx tranny. i heard that if i use the zc tranny i will need new axels. if this is true then what axels should i use?

if you use the zc tranny you will need new axels, if you use your dx tranny then you can use your stock axels. The MPFI wiring took me about a day, however it took me 4 days to complete the swap on my car as i was waiting for parts from honda. you can use your stock mounts and there are no frame modifications needed for this swap...

If it is a DOHC yes (use's halfshaft, like the B and H), but if it is a SOHC you will be ok.

what ecu is that lovely diagram for ??

that "lovely diagram" happens to be wrong - from the distributor, the CPS wires are blue/green which goes to C1 and blue/yellow which goes to C2, the TDC wires are orange/blue which goes to C3 and white/blue which goes to C4
