why dont you just sell one of the 2 motors you have sitting around to foot the bill for the complete engine build and do it right the first time. just think about the labor charges of having to do the first 1000 bucks worth of work and then when you get enough for the rest having to tear down...

i dont know man, my daily driver is an 03 jetta gls, it has the 2 liter motor and auto trans. my wife had to have the damn thing 2 years ago back when the only other car we had was my 05 civic lx coupe, which she made me sell later on. but all in all really the cost of maintanence on these vw's...

go to hybrid-racing.com and just look around there. they have the fool proof wiring harness, shift mount box, axles, engine mounts, swap headers, and shifter cables and whatever else you will need. good luck with the build man.
