Replaced alternator, got much higher Voltage

Well, fortunately, it's already from a warranty from a while back. So, this alternator is technically free. It's just the installation that I'm doing that's not free. I think I'm just going to have them run the alternator on their test machine before I take it out of the store next time. Not...

Replaced alternator, got much higher Voltage

I just used a volt meter and revved it up until the light would turn on. I am starting to wish I had a volt gauge inside the car. (hmmm, another project to add to the list).

Replaced alternator, got much higher Voltage

That was my guess. As annoying as it was to replace this time around, I'm tempted to just replace the voltage regulator instead, just keeping the alternator in the car. Can Autozone or the like 'officially' check the alternator while it's in the car. I'm usually told to take it out of the car so...

Replaced alternator, got much higher Voltage

91 CRX with ZC motor. I just replaced the original alternator on my car because it couldn't keep voltage (it went all the way down to 7.5v at some points). After replacing the alternator, I get the battery light when I pass 4500 rpm. I checked the voltage and at idle it runs 14.20v and the...

    Climate control (yep, it broke)

Thanks a million for this. One thing down, hundreds more broken parts to go....

    Climate control (yep, it broke)

I have a 91 CRX and I was wondering if there was a model that had a sturdier climate control that would also be able to plug in (or close to plug and play) or if there was a way to reinforce a climate control that I may pull out of another Civic/CRX.

valve on A/C compressor. What's it called?

I was trying to look up the valve that is on the side of the A/C compressor. It's the valve that's designed to blow before anything else in the A/C does. Is this something I can order from a parts shop and if so, what would it be called? My mechanic mentioned "high pressure valve" but I got...

    Speedo died today

Yeah, I was thinking that it should be one of those things that I buy new. I was also wondering how bad it is to replace one of the gauge bulbs. The bulb behind 90-120 MPH seems to have gone out just as I dismantled my dash. Of course I'll check to see if it's just loose, but, if not, can...

    Speedo died today

I removed/broke open the plastic that covers the dash and found the cable. I pulled the cable from the back of the cluster and checked it while moving. It appears that the plastic pin that goes into the cluster has broken from the rest of the cable. Would there be a way to repair the pin to the...

    Speedo died today

As noted above, the speedometer in my 91 CRX died today. Everything else on the dash still works and I checked the VSS connection to the tranny as well. The VSS is solidly in place and I had very few issues with the speedo before this. The only problem I had with the speedometer before now was...

    brake conversion

I've already got the booster and cylinder in there, just waiting to get off my lazy butt and go get those arms. Now that I know I can use the Teg cables, there is very little but my own procrastination holding me back.

    brake conversion

I actually needed to know this too. You CAN? use the cables from an integra? there's one waiting at the junkyard in beautiful condition for me to yank the whole arms off of, but I needed to know about the cables.

    My rex hates TPS sensors

Not yet, gonna fool around with it a little bit tomorrow. Just not sure exactly where that whole bunch of wires makes it through the wall.... I should know that by now.

    88 CRX help

If it doesn't have a badge it is most likely a DX. Feature-wise is it low, but the HF will always be lower (in weight too!) :)

    Tail lights between years???

I've seen plenty notes saying you can't interchange the different years on a CRX, but I've been back and forth between the two sets a couple times. I'm sure you can't change between body styles, but I don't think the year difference should stop you.

    My rex hates TPS sensors

Yeah the smoothness is just fine. nothing unusual there. I did set the car to .5v closed throttle with the car off. (key in on position)

    My rex hates TPS sensors

I had thought about "wire jacking" another wire that is no longer in use for the purpose you have mentioned. The progress on the TPS is very good. Much harder to adjust this TPS into place than an older one, because of how sensitive it is. Which wire is the one to check for the voltage going...

    My rex hates TPS sensors

I have a ZC in a 91 CRX HF. Even before the swap, I had issues with the motor bogging down randomly. The simple way to solve the problem was to unplug the TPS and all the issues went away (minor loss of power for obvious reasons). I've replaced the TPS sensor and measured it at both the TPS...

    CRX Efficiency

I owned a 91 HF CRX for a couple years, then something in the tranny snapped. It was getting 30-33 city and 46 HWY. While these aren't the marks the car got when it was new, I understand from several people that that was near the best you could get out of that car fifteen years after it was...

Which models have this rim cover?

Last night, while working, my car decided to rid itself of one of the lug covers (it was broken anyway, no real loss) I'm trying to figure out if the lug covers seen on this car are on any other hondas as well. The rims in that picture are the same ones I have on my car as well. The reason I...
