Honestly I think you'd have enough power with a mini me but I kinda found out the hardway that it's not too much cheaper to do a sohc motor honestly. besides you have to keep in mind with a gsr or type r motor you instantly start with nearly 40 horses more at the crank. a stock b18 vtec in that...
Alrighty...so I need some advice from you honda fans out there. I have been looking at buying a new car but I was thinking about something more practical for the Colorado weather but I came across the potential deal of a lifetime. My buddy kelly is losing his license due to an unfortunate and...
Thinking about picking up a d16z6 motor for sale $350 on the good ole cl. I believe it's complete so I could sell off some of the stuff if needed. Maybe after that some Eagle H-Beam rods, and endyn high comp. pistons.
sorry I didn't intend to say same time. don't know where my head was at. I meant instead. but even if I were to go with the d17 pistons I'd probably want to upgrade the rods at the same time and go forged anyway. I'm sure the pistons will be able to handle well over what this motor will see n/a...
I believe the head was slightly milled. and thank you much. we need to get some new gas in the thing. it's been sitting for far too long without any additives in the fuel.
by the way does anyone know if there is any altered timing with the b16 head on a b20 block? we're still trouble shooting the build I was helping with and right now it doesn't seem like it wants to build compression but there is no way the valves are screwed up or anything of the sort the motor...
to be honest I almost feel safer running the higher compression and less timing work than the timing with the 11:1 ratio. luckily I have a buddy who can do tuning when it comes to that time. I was actually quite intrigued by the p29/pm7 piston swap you were talking about. I've always had lofty...
for the record I need to apologize. Granted I have not commented in this thread about this subject I too thought the b18c5 was a jdm motor. actually thought it was the only jdm motor they offered that DID have the number at the end. But I stand corrected. thanks for the info! But I would say a...
will do thanks man. I guess despite my original plan to rock a stock block and internal combo for a bit was changed...so I'm looking into y8 bottom ends. so If anyone has any let me know. Don't really need a 2nd head but wouldn't mind nonetheless.
all this progress dashed yet again. stripped threads in the block where my headstuds thread into. I have heard it's not recommended to helicoil or retap the threads in a block like this nor will I be able to find a proper arp stud without extensive mods. SO the plan now is to start looking into...
By the way for helping him out I snagged his extra b20 throttle body...gonna see if it'll line up. Also he hooked it up with his civic sized drilled and slotted rotors with new pads as well. He is also the same one who gave me a radiator when my other one's head snapped off.
It's looking like...
Well Finally got the head back about to go install it. Cost me $496 for the bronze valve guides, valve job, and cam install. I feel like had I known this before everything I would've sent my head to Bisimoto and had their shop go through it. Oh well it looks very clean and I'm itching to drive...
if you're gonna go with an obd-1 block, I'd personally recomend going with the z6 head to and not fool with mixing the obd's. I did a b7/y8 mini me only because I already had a good head out of my previous motor. I just needed the block.
I'm running a zex cam for the n/a setup. they offer...
mine are brand new thanks though...lil pic of some progress. new bumper, grill, and headlights installed. just need the fenders, and a hood and it'll be ready to prep for paint. love the fact that I went to school for that...and have the tools needed.
2 weeks since I dropped the head off...one busy shop! But they do good work. Ordered oem 2000 civic ex headlights some brackets were broken on the old ones and I wanted to get legit 00 headlights
well gonna go ahead and get the bronze valve guides, and oem honda seals, also looking into the unorthodox pulley set in stock diameter but have heard that it's a better idea to leave the stock crank pulley on due to it serving the purpose of a harmonic balancer as well? was still considering...
