Japan had a 2g 2.0SI with the 3g's b20a engine in it so that will fit. I don't know what other mounts you could use since I doubt you could get the JDM ones. I would look at the 3g Lude mounts to see if they would work.
Apperantly you can also use con rods from an Accord LXi (I think thats...
Why spend $350- $500 for a radiator thats overkill for its application. The stock cooling system is modifiable enough to allow cooling for most setups. Its when you do serious engine work for drag times that you need one. Just my 2 cents.
So are the JDM vtec brakes still bigger than the USDM?
I don't thinks so. I'm pretty sure they're the same. I'd be shocked if they were bigger.
All 4g and 5g brake parts are interchangeable except for the lines. The front rotors and calipers of a '95 era Legend fit the 5g Lude but only the...
The USDM vtec brakes are different too. The vtecs front calipers are different and the rotors are 1" bigger than the S and SIs.
Do you know what the piston diamiter is? Its not in the Helms.
poid: I dunno about the b20b. The b20/ 21a has pretty much nothing in common with the newer b16/ 18/ 20s. Plus I don't think its been done.
JDMPowersales: The b20a should fit. It came in the jdm 2g Lude.
B21 has oil burn problems. Ludespeed used to have a kit to slap a b16a head on the b20/21 block. It requires LOTS of modding to get it to work. Plus with that head on the b21, you'll REALLY have oil burn problems. I'd just keep the b21 as a parts engine.
If you don't want to spend $400- $500 on a radiator, try Modine. It was $125 from Advanced and has a metal tank instead of the crappy plastic one. Direct OEM replacement.
IMO, the h22 would ruin the 3gs street handeling. With the added weight of the h22, it would put the weight distrabution at 70/30. To me thats counter productive unless you want a drag racer.
I assume its an obd2 h22. Some one on honda-tech had posted something on an electrical mod that made the ecu see flow without actually having it. A friend of mine tried it with no luck. I've got the post saved to my hard drive if you want it.
See the above post.
Basically, the only swap kit made is for an h22 by Place Racing. That engine weighs 180lbs more than the b20/21 putting the front/ rear weight distribution at around 70/30. Thats fine for a drag car but not for a street car. I believe Whiteline (or something like that) is...
Something I'd like to see is a b18 or b16 in the 3g. It would be much better for the overall performance of the car since the engines don't weigh 180lbs more than the b21 like the h22 does.
However, the mounts have to be fabed and the shift linkage has to be changed to pushrod. Unless you can...
You'd definatly want to get the h22 piston to bump compression. Also, the oil squirts in the block for better reliability.
$2500 is cheap! I haven't found anyone besides the dealership that will part out an h22.
Honda-tech has a sticky for the h23vtec you should check out if you're interested.
Will I need to go with a different or chipped ecu since we're not using abs? Should I go with an '88-91 crx cable tranny or is the hydro to cable conversion fairly straight forward? What are some common problems I might encounter? Has anyone done this swap?
Sorry bout all the stupid questions...
