okay so I tried to time it jumping the stock (88 civic lx) base timing connector and it doesnt do anything. I cannot time it properly.
I was looking on alldatapro.com as I am a member and it says for a 1993 civic ex the wires you jump for base timing are the same wires you jump when extracting...
I have a 88 lx with a d16z6, rywire obd0 to obd1 ecu jumper and a P28
my question is do I still jump the same connector for base timing when timing it? or do I have to jump something else?
Whats wrong with using the catch can thats on the back of the motor?
**Edit nevermind just read the same question and answer in your engine swap thread
yea I live in BC its really wet here. all it does it rain unless its summer.
but I have lots of buddies who have cold air intakes and they have never had a problem! so... I think I'm good.... for now
thanks alot guys. but generally I have never really heard of people having problems, so until I can afford it I guess I am going to have to go without. I dont think I will be taking too much of a risk.....
hey I have a question for whoever can answer this!
I have a cold air intake and the filter is behind the passenger side of the front bumper. should I be concerned about it sucking up water?
because to me it looks like it could.
really? so I can adjust the tension without even having to take the timing cover off eh! I read the spec on alldata and its 33lb-ft. so yea I guess I will check the torque of the tensioner pulley bolt and maybe re torque. regardless I will probably replace the timing belt as I do not know any...
yea I've done tons of timing belts on single cams. so that isnt a problem
so yea I guess I will rip it apart and replaced the tensioner pulley and timing belt.
does anyone know if its common for a waterpump to be noisy?
yea its quite loud! the belt seems too tight to me. but hard to really say. maybe the last guy who owned the car. tightened the tension tighter to tighten up a worn timing belt.
okay thanks alot for the info. yea I got everything wired already. . yea the fan temp switch wires I already extended them to a coolant temp sensor when I rewired the engine harness. just wasnt sure about that sensor on the back of the block. I sorta thought it might be a oil pressure sensor...
I know it isnt the powersteering belt or the alternator belt. right now I do not have a upper timing cover and it can heard with a stethoscope near the timing belt. it is a whurring noise. almost like the timing belt is too tight or something like that or the belt tensioner idler pulley bearing...
