so your saying a d16z6 doesnt have a knock sensor at all?
also no that is not the plug I am talking about. it is a one pin (one wire plug) that is on the harness. also on the back of the engine there is a one pin sensor what is this sensor?
I didnt connect the knock sensor yet and the engine light is not coming on? is this normal?
also on the stock engine harness there is a one pin plug near the oil filter...what is it for? im stumped!
I looked at the back of the engine and all I see is the knock sensor
Hi I have a d16z6 in a 88 civic LX and there is a strange wurring noise coming from the timing belt area. I listen to it with a stethoscope and it is definitely coming from the timing belt or pulleys. I had this same problem on my d16y7, but couldnt trace exactly where the noise was coming from...
just did a obd0 to obd1 conversion.
I was wondering if anyone has any tips on the best way to route the (rywire) conversion harness.
Also I the P28 doesnt fit where the PM6 used to fit. Anyone have the same problem?
Today....
-Checked all the rest of the engine harness. rewired a few things for better placement.
-Installed the harness at work. redid the dpfi to mpfi wiring at the ecu.
-wired in the 4 wire oxygen sensor, knock sensor, vtec solenoid, etc.
- couldnt find a obd1 dizzy connector so I cut the...
yes Im pretty sure you to repin the obd1 connector you would have to get new pins and crimp them onto wires. not necessarily use the pins from the obd0 connector in the obd1 connector.
as for the ecu jumper..... yea with that kit it most likely came with the obd0 to obd1 dizzy adapter. too many...
UPDATE>>
Okay so I figured out my problem with the dizzy wiring
I pulled the loom down further and the previous owner did extend the wires
so I checked the wires colors... alls good....solder job is real shitty so gonna redo the solders, then next check the rest of the harness (connectors...
so heres the just of my story....
I bought a 88 lx civic with a d16z6 already swapped in it, in non running condition. checked compression..good. motor turns over nice. blahblahblah.
buddy was running the motor off a PM6 with a vtec controller. BOO:(
so I am doing this swap correctly.
I have...
well couldnt you just cut the female connector from the obd0 dizzy and solder it onto the obd1 dizzy swapping which ever wires you need to.
I guess it would be cleaner to depin the obd0 connector and put the pins into the obd1 connector.
my problem is I cant find a obd1 connector anywhere around...
So I cranked over the engine today and checked the PM6 (yes I know bad ecu to use with d16z6) for a DTC and its displaying only one code, which is 4.
this means its the crank angle sensor or could be the wiring to it.
but anyways I have another question!
since its giving dtc 4 would this cause...
I have a D16Z6 in a 88 lx. I did not do the swap.
Im not sure if the person who did the swap used the stock tranny or
if they used a si tranny.
So my question is how would I be able to tell if it is the Lx tranny or a Si tranny?
damn must be nice to have money to do all this lol.
crazy shit man. good job on what you have done so far.
this thread was very interesting! along with all the others (wire tuck, etc.)
