There is a restrictor plate inside the DX throttle body that can be removed to allow for more airflow... is this what you're reffering to? I've removed it from an 89 DX sedan once just to see what it would do & it killed the torque & didn't really do much for power that I could feel... it did...

No doubt the 89 teg motor is what you need. It's very similar to a ZC & it will bolt in...common swap for 84-87s. I'm not sure if there's a way to bolt a ZC into your 4th-gen without fabricating some mounts... mep
