    My Ls Vtec build

I already have the new OEM head bolts so I will be using those and they are fine for my build. I got the retainers as a trade for my LS head so I could not pass it up. Cost of retainer is more than I could have sold the head for. I also plan to run some stage 2 cams in the near future, so I am...

    ls swap into eg hatch

Depends on what obd his motor will be. I used a obd2a motor in a obd2a EK used a Lx engine harness and there was still a few things to wire. Switch EVAP purge plug, changing crank sensor plug and changing some of the ecu pins. Having a EG with the 2 part harness sure make thing a bit simpler.

Best choice for 00' Civic Si engine swap(replacement)

Cafrog yes it is true that the larger displacement from the 1.8L helps a lot with the torque compared to a 1.6l. Honda designed the B18C1 intake for extra mid range tq. The IABs stay closed at lower rpms making the runners longer, then they open at higher rpms shortening the runners for higher...

No your stock pump is fine. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I did the same swap on my EK. Here is a great link for wiring .:FFS TechNet:.

Best choice for 00' Civic Si engine swap(replacement)

I got my full OBD2 to OBD1 conversion, P28 ECU, Hondata S100 and tuning for $460 out the door. A GSR can rev to 9k stock no problem, tune to raise rev limit. Dont worry about the 1.8l R/S they are balanced well and are made to sit at higher revs. The GSR makes all that extra tq in the mid range...

    98 civic hx swap

No custom 2.5 inch exhaust, AEM CAI, 4-2-1 header, stock Si cat ,custom ground wires and Hondata S100 on 91 octane. And yes you are right every motor is not the same and dynos read differently. That is why I said between 105-110whp stock. Yes about 25% or 30hp is lost through a MT more through...

    obd0 b16 into a 94 hatch questions.

Cool glad to hear it went well and the motor is good. It is not legal to swap an older motor into a newer car. So OBD0 motor in a OBD1 car is not legal but is can be done just like any other swap. You are better off with the 91 hatch.

Best choice for 00' Civic Si engine swap(replacement)

A GSR motor will be great.Get a 00-01 GSR long block and get a Blox or Skunk2 intake manifold and you will not have to worry wiring in the GSR mani. Your B16 harness will all plug in. Use the needed mount brackets off you B16 and use the shorter geared B16 trans. Oh and get a header for a 94-01...

    98 civic hx swap

I dont have a stock b18b dyno but it is common knowledge that a stock b181/b puts down around 105-110whp. Project Car magazine did an issue a few months back where they did an Ls Vtec buld. They base lined the 100% stock 98 USDM B18B1 and got 107whp. I am looking everywhere to find that mag so I...

    ls vtec build

Yeah stock injectors max out at around 200whp but are still safe to use. And yes it was free for me to do did not cost me one penny. And it is simple to do a mild port and polish to a Vtec head as they are well designed from the factory. I was a machinist for 8 years and have been a mechanic for...

    98 civic hx swap

^ Yeah man do the math, stock B18b puts 107whp I and making 133whp. 133whp-107whp=26whp. So you are right I did not make 25whp I made 26whp. My 2 baseline runs are with IHE before tuning so just IHE got me a total of 10whp. Again its all in the tuning, it is the key to get your mods to make the...

    not LS/VTEC I'm doing a b18c1 block with a ls head

On the head mating surface. You need to plug the passage in a Vtec head when a LS Vtec. You will plug the block in the same place, using a LS Vtec kit. You will need the dowel pins flipped upside down. Use a B18b head gasket.

    B20 Vtec

Oh yeah and at the min on any B18a/b or B20 get ARP rod bolts. This will help hold the bottom end together. The B18a/b and B20 rod bolts are much smaller than Vtec motors have. This is all I am doing to my bottom end with my Ls Vtec.

    b16a2

A GSR block will give more hp than a B16 block. A stock B20 will give you close to the same hp as a GSR but more tq. Port the B16 head while i is off and slap it on a GSR block with some ITR pistons. Poor mans Type R build. The lower CR on the B16 head is made up with the better flow of the B16...

anyone had arp rod bolts snap

I know this tread is really old but I am getting a set of SRP rod bots for my LS Vtec. I hope this was a bad bolt. I used ARP head bolts for my 87 Supra Turbo and they worked great.

    not LS/VTEC I'm doing a b18c1 block with a ls head

The stock cams really are not the great on the P75 head. For a DD street car I would get Crower stage 2 cams. The car will still idle nicely but have good top end power. If you want to make more power that go with stage 3-5, stage 5 is wild and idles at around 1500. The beefed up GSR block will...

    98 civic hx swap

Here you go, dyno results to prove it :)Bottom two lines( red and green are baseline before tuning with just IHE and ground wire kit if you want to count that. All the rest are from the tuning, the results and gains are at the bottom. My tuner Tim at Xact Dyno said that mine was the strongest...
