I was thinking of chopping off my A/C. I don't use it in the summer, I don't mind the heat. I was wondering if anyone knows of exactly how much horsepower, or alternatively, difference in how fast your revs climb after removing it. Kinda vague I know, but I imagine it will reduce drag a...
I was searching ebay for a high flow intake manifold, and I found a Skunk2 for about $250, and an OBX for about $150. I was wondering if any of you guys are using either, and could give me some info on performance of either or both. Thanks.
This just started happening today on the way to work. I shift into first at a normal rpm, and the car is sputtering and spitting, then after like 3k rpm, its as strong as ever and roars thru the rpms. It does this inconsistently. Sometimes its like the problems not there, then at the next...
Yeah, so I've been throwing a VSS CEL code for the past 2 months since I did my swap, and I had no speedometer reading at all. Today, I went to the car wash and finally cleaned the FILTHY fenderwells and firewall, and inadvertently the engine and trans as well, neither of which seemed all that...
Yeah, so I had the shocks/springs put on today, and the car is sitting scary low. I can barely fit my fingers between the top of the front tires and the fender. And these were the LESS lower lowering springs at 1.5". The full race springs lower it 3", I can't see how that's possible to drive...
As the title says, I need someone with a stock B16A SiRII motor/trans to check it out and let me know what speed the car is going at certain rpms in certain gears. I want to know this because it feels like my car is VERY fast, but I have no idea how fast it actually is going at any given...
I found out today that the loud vibration at 3000 rpm is coming from the rear "wing" thing at the top of the hatch window that has the red brakelight in the middle of it. I don't know what the hell that thing is called. So anyway, i hit it with my fist, and it made the same vibration noise...
I have a oil leak coming from the round black cam seal on the passenger side of the front of the valve cover. It's leaking quite a bit. I bought the part for the B16A2, and it doesn't fit my JDM B16A. It's too small. What the hell can I do about this?
Tips for the install:
1. The most important thing is to buy brand new drill bits, preferably made of Cobalt. Don't do what I did and fight with used bits to try and get them to bore through. In the end I had to go out and buy new bits after all, because the old bits just wouldn't go...
I think it might be a good idea because the car is carrying a motor now that is 75 lbs heavier than the D15 that was in there before. Kinda like what people do when they put a H22 in an EG. I'm looking to get brand new performance shocks/springs in the very near future, but before I go ahead...
You can find these on ebay for about $45 shipped iirc. Made by a company with the unimpressive and weird-sounding name of Megan Racing. So it comes with NO instructions or anything. But a quick trip under the car told us what we needed to know. Basically it bolts to each of the control arms...
I replaced the gasket/screen today, and it's still throwing the code. Thought I'd try that first as it's way cheaper than the whole unit, and plus the old gasket had hardened up and was leaking oil, so it needed replacing anyway.
So the only thing I noticed is that when we wired it up using...
Just like the title says.
Also, I wanted to know if 2 piece headers have less flow because of the joint, and if so if that flow loss makes any measurable difference.
Incidentally I wanted to go ceramic rather than chrome for the heat insulation. My underhood is hot enough as it is...
Sometimes when I'm driving, I clutch in between gears, and then the shifter seems to not want to go into that gear. Like 2nd for instance more than any other. Then if I clutch again, it will go in fine. Then occasionally it feels different going into gear, where it's almost like it's grinding...
I just bolted this baby up today, with a magnaflow high flow cat as well. Some points to note if you are planning to install a magnaflow 2.25" exhaust (part no. 15645) and a magnaflow high-flow catalytic converter (part no. 22636) on your EG hatch:
1. I had to pry out a bracket under the...
I ran my B16 on 87 octane for the first week or two after I did my swap. It ran great, and I could do pretty hellacious burnouts in 1st. A few days ago, I filled it up with 93, and now it's got better response in midrange and the topend, but my launches got weird. I've got the power to...
I was thinking of maybe filling in the gaps in my door panels and interior side panels with some foam filling of some kind to reduce vibration and noise in the EG Hatch. The rattles and crap really get on my nerves. I was wondering if any of you guys out there have done something like this and...
