    CRX w/ B18a1 Motor Swap.....

Hey CRex, I don't have much to offer but here is my $.02 Yeah, the ground kit could be a problem. Double check all your wiring and connections. Also, check the alternator. If it is not holding power then either it's not recharging (=alternator prob) or there is some draw on it when the car...

    B18A1 & Passing Visual

Good question. I'll be watching this one to see what kind of answers you get. If the 92 doesn't work out, there a guy on here using the handle 91CRX who has an obd0 B18A for sale.

im in the half way into my b18c1 swap....

Are you trying to register the car or pass smog? If you're just worried about registering it, then the engine does not matter. It is all based upon the VIN. The VIN will identify the manufacturer, year of production, make, model, etc and that is how the DMV tracks vehicles. They couldn't...

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

My CRX as it stands has a D16 with aftermarket camshafts and a bigger throttle body. I have to adjust the timing back to factory specs before testing but it has always passed smog and I've owned it for over six years. That being said, I would never tell the tester about the cams. I really...

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

The simple truth is that I do need them but not for a while. This will be a very slow moving project for me. Shit, I still dont have a tranny. Hey, you never answered my question. Why do you think I would fail smog with pistons and cams?

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

WOW....when I first saw your post my gut reaction was: BULLSHIT. A smog legal turbo kit? NO freaking way. But, then I checked the ARB Executive Orders and YOU"RE RIGHT. HOLY SHIT. The only problem I saw with the one by Greddy was even though it covered the 90 Teg LS it only listed the...

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

Are you saying it will fail the tailpipe test?

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

Yeah, I remember, how u doin brett? Why don't you think the motor will pass smog? As long as it passes visual, timing is per factory, and emissions are within spec, thats it, right? Or am I misunderstanding what you mean by "all motor".

im in the half way into my b18c1 swap....

Even in CA, where I believe we have some of the strictest smog laws, it can be done. As long as the engine came from the same year or newer vehicle and all the emission control systems came with it.

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

...environmentalists out here who are under the influence (read $$$) of big industry lobbyists. So, they tend to focus on us little guys while they dump millions of tons of pollutants into our air (*cough* *cough* *cough*) every year. The point is....can't go turbo, have to pass CA smog.

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

Havn't decided about the compression. Will talk to the experts @ JE.

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

With some JE Pistons, a little increase in compression, more aggressive cams, and a less restrictive exhaust, whaddaya think it'll get? 140hp? 145? more?

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

Took a look at my engine last night and the connectors are white and round = 90-91. :D :) :D :) :D

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

Brian, Thanks for the input (seems like you're the only one that ever helps me on this forum). But, I'm a bit surprised. I expected there to be some extra sensors or something to distinguish obd1 from obd0 besides the resistor box and type of connectors. Are you sure there aren't any knock...

    90-91 B18A vs 92-93 B18A

I've done some searches for this but can't find the right keywords to get the answer I need. I just bought a B18A longblock from a salvage yard that I'm planning to swap into my 89 CRX Si. The engine was marked as a 90 Integra but I want to be sure before I get too far into this. By just...

    starter and flywheel

Sorry, Z6T. When I had this problem with my Porsche, the ground strap was it. I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but did you check the complete ground path, i.e. battery to chassis. The starter pulls more amps by far than any other circuit in the car, so if you have bad grounds it'll...

    starter and flywheel

Did you check the entire ground path? Make sure there are no frayed wires, that ALL the contacts are clean (both ends), and nothing is extremely corroded. Then check the wiring path on the positive side. These "shiny marks" that you found, do they go along the entire length of the starter...

    starter and flywheel

I'm no expert, and I don't know if this will help, but since no one else is chiming in, here's my $.02. Recently I had a similar problem with my Porsche. (I know these cars have next to nothing in common but your symptoms are identical) When I turned the key, I could hear a high-pitched...

On second thought, maybe this thread IS getting out of hand and should have stayed closed. Its definitely getting off topic.

Who makes the best Integra service manual?

Thanks Calesta for re-opening this. I wasn't looking to promote illegal activity on eBay, just trying to get some recommendations based on experiences. So, let's hear some more opinions. Helms, Chilton, Haynes.....any others?
