Who has worse crash rating in your opinion?

IIHS-HLDI: Toyota Corolla IIHS-HLDI: Honda Civic While they're both given A for acceptable ratings, taking "brand loyalty" out of the equation, which one would you rather crash in?

    Make '92-'95 civic more safe?

According to this:JTR Chevrolet S-10 Truck . California Smog Laws I should be ok if I can prove the car produces fewer or the same emissions as the newer model.

    Make '92-'95 civic more safe?

Ok then, how about this... Let's just assume that a '92-'95 civic is out of the question.. This is from the IIHS website crashtest of a '96-'00 civic. Now I'm wondering what would be more difficult. Making structural changes to the '96-'00 civic so that it would not do the above in an...

    Make '92-'95 civic more safe?

If I did, then I wouldn't be posting. What they're saying is that "there is nothing to be done" and I disagree, if I listened to you in this case, then the issue would remain unresolved.

    Make '92-'95 civic more safe?

It only takes one crash to be dead. And what is worse than surviving a crash is surviving and being a cripple. The thing I'm most worried about is intrusion into the foot well which I believe is a problem on '95 civics.

    Make '92-'95 civic more safe?

yuck. Anyways I'm just looking for ways reinforce the civic so that it would be much more acceptable in a crash.

    Confused by civic hatchback CX/VX

So wouldn't that imply that if you were to use the cam profile in the VX used for 12 valve mode that you'd end up with less top end HP than with that of the CX?

    Make '92-'95 civic more safe?

Aside from airbags, I'd assume I'd have to weld in some steel to strengthen things, the question is, what exactly in the chasis differs so much as to make it stronger. Are you saying that it's not possible to keep interior peices such the plastic if you weld in pieces? I mean if they just made...

    Confused by civic hatchback CX/VX

How much does the CX weigh compared to the VX? I doubt the weight difference is what you're making it out to be. The '96 civic and the '01 civic are a difference of 100lbs which equates to in the real world about 3mpg. Having optimized rev ranges don't matter when fuel economy tests are done in...

    Make '92-'95 civic more safe?

If the weight added is the equivalent of going with a 2001 model, that would be perfectly fine as the 2001 models are much safer. Though one issue with the roll cage is that if the car has an issue with intruding into the foot well during an accident, the roll cage would not resolve this issue...

D15Z1 3 Stage VTEC, what do i need? (USA)

So yes, assuming I can buy just the head, why would buying the entire swap be easier though? Maybe I'm missing something here but isn't changing the head a bit easier than removing everything since you should be able to do the head swap in the engine bay opposed to removing everything? I'm more...

Jetta lol. no. Uh about the weight, the weight difference between the '01 (5 star) and the '95 (2-3star) is about 200LBS. For the '95 Civics: 2 Door Coupe:2231 Hatchback: 2108 4 Door Sedan 2213 1992-1995 Honda Civic Specs & Safety - Consumer Guide Automotive For the '01 Civics: 2 Door Coupe...

    Make '92-'95 civic more safe?

With the two videos listed below in mind, I wanted to know if it would be possible to prevent that from happening with out having to turn the car into a nascar vehicle where you can't open the doors up. I was thinking about a roll cage but I would think that would only make it safer in a roll...

    Confused by civic hatchback CX/VX

Which was what, more or less efficient? Either way, I'd imagine that having a better intake manifold would mean more HP but not necessarily more fuel economy while having a good exhaust manifold should give more HP and fuel economy, but then again what do I know?

D15Z1 3 Stage VTEC, what do i need? (USA)

But if I could get just the 3 stage VTEC head, wouldn't it be easier than trying to get the engine, tranny and ECU shipped across seas, not knowing whether or not it'd work? The D15 use the same block and I can imagine that installing a new tranny +engine+ECU would be more difficult and more $$...

The only "special" thing about the VX was that it has a VTEC-e head, the block is still the same amongst all the other D15 engines.

    Confused by civic hatchback CX/VX

I'm confused by the mileage figures between the Civic Hatchback CX and the VX. Here are the engines on wikipedia:Honda D engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia And this is the comparison between the two cars: 1995 Honda Civic Specs and Features - MSN Autos The VX has D15Z7 engine which...

D15Z1 3 Stage VTEC, what do i need? (USA)

The engine making less horsepower I understand but don't you see how odd the discrepancy is? Did you miss my comparison of the 1996 to the 2001? How the difference in mileage "makes sense" but the '95 to '96 not so much, or at least begs the question, what did they do to the engine that improved...

D15Z1 3 Stage VTEC, what do i need? (USA)

But it has a 1.6 litre engine opposed to 1.5litre of the slightly older '95 model. The '95 model has 47/56mpg opposed to the '96 which has 39/45 with the 1.6litre engine. Actually, what is more disturbing about this picture is that the '96 with the 1.6 loses so many MPG over the 1.5 litre that...
