What year is her Hatch?
My opinion on the valve cover is that don't always tell you what OBD the engine is like some people say. I have a 94 B18B1 I swapped in my EG a few months ago. I don't like the older style LS valve covers so I went to the junk yard and got one they had from a 98...
As far as the idle goes..have you tried turning the idle down via the idle screw? Its on the throttle body facing the intake tube. I have always had to jump my ECU to get the idle to change. If thats not it take off your IACV and clean it...it has a mesh screen in there that will get clogged...
Also,While we are on the subject of oil pressure. I thought I would mention this..its werid but I guess every engine has its on little differences which would probably also depend on the mileage on the oil pump and engine itself. This B18B1 cold puts out like 75-80psi of oil pressure at idle...
Thanks for the reply again man. No before the cleaning it would run around 80psi cold. After being warmed usually it ran at 75-80 psi because I am almost always atleast at 3000RPMs or higher when crusing becasue of the GSR tranny.
I guess though it still does have adequte oil pressure even...
I have now noticed after the driving the car to work and back today after cleaning the FITV that my oil pressure psi has dropped???? At 3,000RPMs before I cleaned that valve my oil pressure would run dead on 75psi. And spike at 80psi or so durring high RPM....after the cleaning....At...
D16siHatch, Thanks for that info man..I put my new starter in last night after work and clean the FITV. The cold irratic idliing problem gone...YAY!!!!! That shit was so annoying.
Dude..Thanks so much..I am very excited to try this and would right now but it wouldn't do me any good as my starter finally gave its last breath tonight so I have it out so I can go get a new starter tomrorow..will clean that valve as well while putting the new starter on. I really hope thats it.
Alot of times not finding alot when you search has to do with what you type in. I used to try and get to detailed with a search.
For example i might would have typed in "98 Civic B20 Swap"
Instead get a drink..beer or what have you..type in "Civic Swap" and just start weeding out the...
Whats up guys. Did and LS swap in my 93 EG coupe months back.
Specs:
-1994 B18B1
-P75 ECU
-Stage 2 Clutch
-9.5lb flywheel
-4-2-1 Header(cheap ass header)
-CAI
-Apexi N1 Catback
-Stock Cat
-GSR Transmission
-Skunk2 Shift Knob
-Skunk2 Short Shifter
Basically my question is concerning the 2...
I have an LS in my 93 EG with a GSR tranny and I love it. I turn 4,000RPMs at 80 and I still average between 32 1/4 and 32 1/2 MPG. Plus the engine is ready to go at about all times...running 70 or so on the freeway..no need to downshift to 4th..just give it the throttle and stay in 5th.
Forgot to mention..I have a 4-2-1 Header mated up with an Apexi N1 Catback...it was pretty freakin loud buzzing down the freeway at 4,000RPMs or more...so either put your quite core back in..or..break out some earplugs:D:p
I swapped in a B18B1 LS engine into my 93 EG a few months ago. In regards to the Trannys..I went with a GSR tranny. Its not that bad and from what I hear MUCH better gearing than that of the stock LS tranny.
I turn 3,900RPMs at 80mph and since the swap its like EVERY tank I get between 32...
I agree.
I took a cut with my EG when I had my D16Z6 in it..i had some mods done to it and it averaged 38-45MPG. I put my LS(B18B1) in my EG and now get roughly 32 1/2 MPG every tank. Whats funny is my engine is a DOHC 1.8L that pulls very nicely compared to my buddies stock DX with the...
Do you seem to be down a cylinder and running on 3? Fire up the engine and pop the hood, start taking the spark plug wires off the plugs 1 at a time..if you get a change..as in the engine starts missing put it back on and go to the next...if you find one that makes no different in how the engine...
Make sure you get the B-Series "L" bracket that goes behind the engine and bolts to the frame. I bought aftermarket mounts as well when I put my B18B1 into my 93 civic coupe.
