Actually the transmission in the fit is pretty fast and quite a bit different compared to your CX transmission, it's even faster than the Si transmission you're thinking of swapping.
I know there's more to power gains than just peak horsepower and such, but the engines are the same only...
I have a question that i'm afraid no may have an answer for. I just bought a '07 Honda Fit a few months ago and found out maybe 6 weeks ago that the new '09 Honda Fit engines will have i-Vtec where my car only has Vtec, not to mention the kind seen on K20A3 engines that enage around 2300rpm...
I was wondering which car has a better front/rear weight distribution, a '89 CRX or a '89 Civic, cuz i can get the civic real cheap whereas the crx's close buy a like 3-4 thousand dollars more. And i hate how the civics look, but if they're better then maybe i'd reconsider.
edit - does anyone...
This is the email I recieved from them:
Hello,
We sell and install the b16a1. if you want a complete turn key package
where you drop the car off and we get everything and when you come pick
it up it will be ready to go for $2900CAD. Or if you just want the motor
alone it is $1650.
Thank you...
Actually the guy that quoted me the price said i could the engine for $1600 CAN. you can check it online if you want @ jdmsource.ca and his own words the $2800 was for a turn-key package, basically i drop off the car and when i return it's all ready to go. Oh and i don't have to pay any shipping...
The price for the LS swap sounds nice, but i don't have enough technical knowledge to pull that off on my own, so i'd also have to pay someone to install it.
And how did you pay $3000 USD for your b16 when i can get one bought and installed in my car for $2800 CAN.
Oh and how good is really...
I was wondering if any knows what the aftermarket support is like for the jdm d15b vtec engine. I though i read somewhere that the vtec head is the same on the d15b vtec as the d16z6, so could i use aftermarket z6 internals in a d15b vtec. Also could i use aftermarket usdm d15b pistons in the...
Well I've actually emailed a few places based in the states and they'd told me it would cost about $500 US to ship any engine to canada. And the only other places for engines are either onine stores or ebay.ca, I've yet to go to any non-online stores in my area and I don't have enough mechanical...
The tranny's aren't the same, but I'm pretty sure they are compatible as long as you get a Hasport cable to hydraulic conversion, although I've read that the conversion setup isn't perfect. I don't know ask around.
Oh and what kind of transmission are you using, cuz if you using the stock LS transmission the amount of performance you'd be able to get out of your engine would be severly hindered in comparison to a b16a cable trans or the zc/si hybrid trans with ATS FD.
Sorry man, but the $8500 I was talking about was canadian not american so maybe around $5000 US. And for some strange reason CRX's seem to be fairly overpriced, recently i've seen '92-'95 Civics priced lower than CRX's. And considering the b16a already adds a fair bit of weight, I'm not even...
But with greater traction in the front wouldn't it be harder to sustain a balanced drift. I mean on ice you want that added traction to help steer the car, but without ice the front wheels already have a fair amount of traction and the only way to drift, or I should say 4-wheel drift is if the...
The reason I was wondering about the potential for a b16a was becuase i saw a supercharged z6 making 125 ft-lbs on a dyno sheet, and if i can get the transmissions to perform fairly smilarly the only other factors are torque and rpm.
Calesta, I know this is fairly unrelated, but I read in another thread that you said after you dropped your b16a (i think it was b16a) into your car that the added weight lowered your front end.
I'm not so worried about running high octane anymore, but I was wondering just how much did your...
...distribution closer to 50/50. And I'm also not sure if a longer wheelbase would make drifting easier or harder to drift, or control the drift.
*Note* I'm not looking at doing any sort of drift competitions or anything I just find it really fun, and I've only ever driven front wheel drive...
