Thanks, but that was the first thing i check and it was dry. Also car almost bogs to a stall on idle . But runs better in the higher RPMs (over 5000).

    Engine Trouble

Need some help with an engine problem. I completed a B16A SIR2 swap in the fall. Everything was running great until the weekend. I drove it about 30 miles (50km) and it ran fine. Then i washed it and sprayed the engine bay down just with the hose. Then some guy came over and test drove it by...

Car dies at idle and at times no start

Turns out it was the ignitor chip - I luckily had one from an extra distributor.

    start problem

Does it turn over? Do you still have spark and fuel? Any error codes? Check all plugs, ECU, and grounds. Go with the simple things first. On a side note: EF's did have a problem with the PGMFI relay that caused no starts.

Car dies at idle and at times no start

That doesn't explain the no-start after it dies. Plus battery has full charge. I was questioning if it could be fuel pump - but I don't feel fuel cutting out. Plugs and wires are new. And since its at idle I don't think its the dizzy. This problem is baffling me.

Car dies at idle and at times no start

'89 Civic SI with B16A2 - steady idle at 500 RPM - timing is good and not gettting any codes Car ran fine until 2 days. I was driving it and at a stop light it just died then I started it up again no problem. Then today I went to start it and it wouldn't start. After waiting about 20 minutes...

    High Idle - Code 14 and 41

Well, After checking everything it turned out to be the FITV. The screw came loose inside. The code 14 was being caused by the FITV not the IACV (even though code 14 is for the IACV). Once fixed the idle is great. Thanks to CRXSIR1

B16A OBD1 - How to check engine light

The ecu that I had turned out to be OK.The chip inside was put in backwards by the original owner. The notch in the chip always has to face the ECU plugs.

    High Idle - Code 14 and 41

I am going to try to swap the two black wire. The connector on the O2 is stock but the connector on my harness was wired by me. As for the high idle i am goin gto try the suggestions above and look at the TPS.

    High Idle - Code 14 and 41

No overheating. Its a new 4 wire O2 so I don't know why I am geetting the code. Verified blue wire and white wire are connected correctly, but since there are 2 black wires its possible those 2 are swithced. I will rechekc that, but still shouldn't lead to extremely high rev's.

    High Idle - Code 14 and 41

Its a new 4 wire O2 sensor. The wiring appears correct but its possible the 2 black wires are reversed since I don't know what they are for.

    High Idle - Code 14 and 41

The IACV worked fine on my stock engine. It was clean. And yes, the coolant lines are hooked up. The engine is NOT low on coolant. I assume the thermostat is opening since I have heat in the lines and heater. The engine temp sensor is working. How else would I check the thermostat?

    High Idle - Code 14 and 41

B16 OBD1 in an '89 SI. My idle is all over the place. With the IACV plugged in I get a high idle in the 3500 RPM range. With it unplugged it bounces badly (feels worse than the high idle) at 1700ish RPM. I m getting codes 14 (IACV) and 41 (O2 Heater). I swaped the IACV from my D16 ('89...

B16A OBD1 - How to check engine light

Thanks for the help. It was the ECU. Just bought a new one and it works well. Throwign a couple of codes but I will work on those. At leaset its running and not hitting a 3500 RPM limit.

B16A OBD1 - How to check engine light

It runs, but like crap. The light is always on except when the ECU is unplugged. Been reading it could possibly be a code zero. I am not sure though. Don't really want to pay for another ECU. If its a code zero what else could I check to diagnose? I fell like i have checked everything.

B16A OBD1 - How to check engine light

Its doesn't work. I have tried to ground the D4 Pin (Service Connector) but I don't get any flashes. The CEL just stays on. Its a P30 ECU for an OBD1 B16 in an '89 SI.

B16A OBD1 - How to check engine light

Its an EF so I don't have it. What are you supposed to jump the Service Connector pin to?

B16A OBD1 - How to check engine light

Stupid question from a novice. I did a B16a OBD1 swap. Since I don't have the plug (normally in the EG's and up) to check the engine codes. How do I do it? What pins do I need to cross?

    B16 Driveshafts length?

I bought a set of Non ABS drive shafts and put the ball joint end from the '89 onto the end. This worked perfectly and got rid of the bumpy binding.

    B16 Driveshafts length?

Finally got my car runing but once I took it out and hit 20 KM an hour it shook live mad (more straight than turning - its seems to ease on the turns). There is something the matter with the driveshafts but I need to figure out what. When I installed them I could only tighten them so the nut...
